Nomenclature

The Danish Chemical Society conveys nomenclature to specialists and laymen through its Committee for Nomenclature. This committee is via The Danish National Committee for Chemistry the Society's gateway to influence in the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and is as such responsible for adapting the international nomenclature to Danish.

The Committee for Nomenclature is responsible for the book Kemisk Ordbog, which in addition to serving as a reference book also defines the official current Danish chemical nomenclature. A second and revised version of this book was publised in April 2005. This second edition consists of a printed book and a fully searchable web-based database kemiord.dk.
